The topic of duplicated content is highly debated on forums and I don’t know where all the misinformation comes from but I would like to clear some misconceptions about it.
Of course it is not recommended to have a copy-paste blog. That’s the worst thing one can do especially if you plan on doing affiliate marketing and your site is everything but original. If you have high amounts of content originated from other sites you should focus on creating more original content to dilute the information.
Adding fresh and original content is not only good for your page rank but readers will love you so much more. I hate to read blogs which are obviously not there to help me but to sell. The frequency and the originality of your article will help you to get found much easier and if you keep on adding content daily the web spiders will more likely to crawl your site and you get indexed in a much higher rate.
The originality of your article will produce much more back links because Google desperately fights against duplicate content. All of your content will get indexed but if there is a high amount of similarity Google tends to drop much of your links pushing you back from the top positions.
Some of the people are really afraid of using article directories because they have a great misunderstanding. You don’t have to be afraid of penalty if you are using article directory submissions because those directories do not show your article in it’s original form. They just don’t place your article on a page, they include your article with other content which eliminates the duplicate problem.
Getting one way links is not only a great way for your inbound marketing and give a better status in the eyes of search engines. It will also build credibility by providing evidence of your extensive knowledge and expertise.
